Fishing Sunglasses – Why Sunglasses Are Important When Fishing

Fishing sunglasses have been used to block the sun and help prevent the bright light from causing an eye irritation normally known as burnt eyes. This irritation leaves a person’s eyes blood shot and very dry. It also causes the eyes to itch.

The first types of fishing sunglasses were of the old style which looked very much like a normal pair of glasses with tinted lenses. They provided only a limited amount of UV protection, and the sun’s rays still came in from the sides, top and bottom of the sunglasses.

Today, we have new polarized sunglasses which have revolutionized the sunglass industry. They greatly reduce the sun’s glare off of objects as well as offer the best in UV ray protection. Ultra violet rays are just as harmful to people’s eyes as the bright light is. Now with global warming taking place all around the world especially in the northern hemisphere, people need to get the best protection that can be offered.

These polarized sunglasses have become very popular with the fishermen everywhere. These types of sunglasses decrease the sun’s glare off the water so much that a fisherman can actually see the fish swimming by a few feet below the water level. They also help prevent blistering from the winds that are on the lakes, rivers, and the oceans. Wind can blister a person’s eyes just as well as the sun can burn a person’s skin, and when you have both the wind and the sun working against you there can be some pretty serious burns.

In the last few years fishing sunglasses have been designed so that the lenses wrap around a person’s entire eye. This helps keep the sun’s glare from entering between the sunglasses frames and face. These are sometimes called bandits, because they look somewhat like a mask that a robber would wear. They have become so popular that not only fishermen, but people in other types of outdoor sports have begun wearing them. Then the sunglasses companies developed sunglasses which would float when they fell off a person’s face and into the water.

Fishing sunglasses just like all types of sunglasses these days have federal designations as to how much UV protection a pair of glasses will give you. These ratings start at 0 that offers very little protection and goes up to 4 which offers the most protection for your eyes. Each country has its own set of ratings which are designated by its own government.

People should take care of their eyes, because sight is one of the most important senses that we have. Without our eyesight people would be restricted about what activities they could do, such as working around the house, the types of sports they could be included in, and just living life the normal way.
