It used to be that TV shows portrayed women with eyeglasses as nerds. They were often ignored, never the object of affection. Just think of Jan compared to Marsha in The Brady Bunch or Velma compared to Daphne in Scooby Doo. However, in the 21st century, girls with eyeglasses are complex, smart, and desirable. They serve as role-models for girls and women across America. The nerdy archetype is a thing of the past.
