Cool Sunglasses and Polaroid Cameras?

It is a little-known fact that there is a connection between Polaroid cameras and common every-day sunglasses. Keep reading for details on that connection, as well as some other interesting facts.

Sunglasses were only introduced into the United States in the early twentieth century, just around 1930. This totally new, unusual type of eye wear was sold on the boardwalks of Atlantic City, New Jersey and promised to protect the wearer’s eyes from the harmful sun. In a time where people were not concerned about the harmful effects of smoking, alcohol or sun damage to their skin, they were probably not at all concerned about the damaging effects of the sun on their eyes.

Within the next 10 years polarization of the lenses was developed, as well. Back to the connection of the Polaroid camera and sunglasses – the inventor of the famed Polaroid camera integrated his Polaroid filter into the makeup of the sunglasses’ lenses giving us what we call today: Polarized lenses.

This technology developed so many years ago, is still used today. At the time it was the greatest step of its time toward the protection of our eyes from the sun.

Now since that time, the 1930’s, sunglasses have steadily become a favorite accessory for everyone. We use cool sunglasses as a way of showing off our style. We also use cool sunglasses to show our sophistication and even our social status. And sometimes we want to just look like our favorite celebrity. Who is that behind those Foster Grants?

Michael Baxter recommends you get some cool sunglasses  to protect your baby blues. The brand isn’t important, they can be all kinds of sunglasses, as long as they have the proper UV protection in the lens.
