Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses are timeless classics. They have been around since the 1950’s and have been worn by Presidents as well as numerous celebrities both in movies as well as during their everyday lives. The Ray Ban Wayfarers were so popular, similar looking models were created by competing brands.
Just like all valuable possessions, it is important to keep them looking as good as new so they last long.
When In Use
Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses are worn by people for practically any event. They just look cool anywhere. That said, they are often exposed to the elements. And when I say elements, I do not just mean the weather, dust and such. I also mean the hands of over enthusiastic children.
To children, your sunglasses are just another toy to be thrown around, jumped on and taken apart. If you value your Ray Ban Wayfarers, keep them away from children.
But children are not the only ones responsible for damaging these classic sunglasses. Quite often, damage to Wayfarers are caused by the owners own negligence.
When you have your Ray Ban Wayfarers with you, ensure that when you are not wearing it, never keep it in your back pocket, on the car seat, on the dashboard and on the coffee table. Many pairs of Wayfarers were left broken or warped as a result of not storing them properly. Try to keep them in a proper case whenever possible.
Cleaning
But like all sunglasses, Ray Ban Wayfarer Sunglasses do get dirty. Smudgy fingerprints or a spot of dust on the lens, fungus slowly growing behind the nose pads – these are all common issues when owning a pair of sunglasses.
Though it is important to clean your sunglasses now and then, it is more important to do it properly so as not to damage it.
The simplest way to clean smudges off a lens is by using a micro fiber cloth. But before that, ensure that there is no solid residue on the lens surface or you might end up scratching the lens when you clean it.
In some cases, you might need more thorough cleaning for your pair of Ray Ban Wayfarers. Especially in cases where there is fungus buildup behind the nose pads. To clean this, you would need to first rinse the glasses with warm water to get rid of any lose residue. Then soak them in warm water with some mild liquid soap for a few minutes.
Next, use a small soft brush to get rid of the fungus. Finish the process by giving the Ray Ban Wayfarers a final rinse with warm water. Do not forget to dry them off with a soft lint-free cloth.
Storing
It is always a good idea to store your Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses in its proper case. However, if you live in an area with high humidity, slip in a silica gel pack into the case to keep moisture at bay. This will help prevent fungus from appearing. Check the gel pack occasionally. If the gel discolors, do not throw it away. Just dry it out in the sun for a couple of hours before reusing.
