Snowboarding Goggles – It’s Clear To See!

Just as I was getting confident in riding the whole mountain, I decided to accompany some expert skiers down quite a famous 007 related black run, in what can only be described as not ideal conditions… after serious protests from myself, I finally decided to follow… only to find that these highly experienced twin plankers were side slipping down the mountain!!!

It was a total white out… and added to that the snow conditions were quite icy, which meant that no-one wanted to move very much. The upshot for me was that I pretty much slid all the way down on my butt, and spent the rest of the day traumatised in the lift station vowing never to ride in flat light conditions again.

It’s the weirdest thing when you can see other people on the slopes perfectly but can’t see the slope itself… there have been times when I have genuinely thought I had come to a stop but hadn’t, and then fell quite heavily, such is the manner your brain is fooled by such conditions. The outcome from these experiences for me has been to find a pair of snowboarding goggles that give you as much of an advantage in flat/low light conditions as possible.

My first few weeks of riding were in sunny conditions and my Oakley’s with fire iridium lenses were awesome, but I may have well have been riding with my eyes shut once the sun went in!! I tried all sorts of Snowboarding Goggles for flat light but with limited success. Yes some do give you a better view of the terrain, but in the main they don’t work as well as the hype suggests!

And then I came across Habervision and saw a recommendation from an old lady who refused to go out in anything but sunny conditions, until she tried a pair of these Goggles… yes, I was skeptical but Steve Haber, the owner, was the guy who founded Bolle, so I took the plunge and ordered online (you can’t buy them in the shops)!

It’s like someone turned on the lights!! They are that good! The optic orange polarised snowboarding goggles, have a blue flash on the outer lens, so they can be used in sunny conditions too. That and the fact they look like mirrored lenses, means you really can have a pair of stunning looking polarised snowboarding goggles that really do help in flat/low light conditions. You have to see the range for yourself, I guarantee you wont be disappointed.
