Hollywood starts trends. It seems as if someone decides to wear something unique, or do something crazy, soon we all are jumping on the same bandwagon. Many of these trends come and go, while many of them become a long lasting status symbol for others. Females followed Hollywood icons with their hairstyles, jewelry, clothes, and accessories. While males followed Hollywood leading men with their choices of suits, sportswear, shoes, hairstyles, and anything that may add to their prowess with women. One of these tried and true, sexy accessories that became a staple among Hollywood’s most famous men…were dark sunglasses.
Giving an air of mystery and sexiness, dark sunglasses never lost their popularity among famous Hollywood men. Through the years, famous men who sported a sexy pair of sunglasses, usually were at the height of their popularity. If you present the question to any female, of any age, they can probably provide a laundry list of their favorite actors who sported sexy shades. If your memory is a bit foggy, or you are a man, here are some those that will always be most memorable in a woman’s mind.
James Dean, was a cultural icon. Most popular in the early 1950’s, he always produced an air of mystery. He was best known for his movies Rebel Without a Cause, and Giant. Dean sported a dark pair of sunglasses in Rebel Without a Cause, and in many pictures taken on the red carpet. Sadly, he received his only Oscar for Best Actor posthumously.
Another famous individual who is well known for always having a pair of sunglasses on or nearby, is Bono. Bono is a singer/songwriter, and lead singer of the iconic band U2. Bono has written most of the lyrics for this band, and has not decreased in popularity through the years. In fact, just the opposite has happened. Also know for being a political activist, Bono can usually be seen sporting a pair of sunglasses at a rally as he voices his political views. Although the sunglasses add to his sexuality, the also add to his look of intelligence and determination in what he believes in.
In addition to these famous icons, the list continues. George Clooney, Jack Nicholson, Hugh Jackman, Fonzie, Johnny Depp, and countless other have been seen behind a pair of sunglasses. Men’s sunglasses have proven to be a timeless accessory for famous men in Hollywood. Though other trends may surface, they will always take a back seat to a simple pair of dark sunglasses.
