About Fifty percent of the population wear some kind of artificial lens or spectacles. These lenses might assist you with sight, but are bad for you in the long run, and can obviously not cure the problem. What actually happens when you do wear contacts or glasses is that your eyes gradually become weaker and weaker, and you have to constantly get stronger lenses. This means expensive visits to the doctor, and new subscriptions.
The most eye problems come from eyes that are over stressed. Since it is basically impossible to avoid strain on your eyes, the next best thing would be to de-stress them when they do become strained. A lot of people wear contact lenses or glasses because their simply became “lazy”, and then when they actually have to focus and work, they cannot handle the stress! By doing eye exercises you can better your vision and become less dependent on your glasses or contact lenses in due time.
Here are three exercises that you can try to help get your eyes “focus fit” and de-stress them:
The first is the Dot exercise:
Find a period or comma on the page and focus on seeing it as clearly as possible. After a few seconds the period will actually became less clear and blurry. Now, to relax your eyes, close them for a minute. Now look at the period without staring. try not to strain; instead, move your eyes slowly around the page, over and around the focus point. Do not keep your eyes still, they need movement. Also, remember to blink. Close your eyes, picture the focus point and then look at it again. Once your eyes relax it should focus on the period or comma easier and quicker.
The second is the Word exercise:
Focus on a word with five or more letters, so that all the letters are in view, but do not move the eyes. Try to get as clear an image of the word. The trick is again to not strain, but try to relax your eyes. Now, allow your eyes to move slowly over, around, and across each letter of the word. And remember: Blink! Try to be led by your eyes and not the other way around. Once you are done with the last letter of the word, the word should be clearer when you focus on it as a whole again.
The third is the Double Vision exercise:
This is to promote team work between your eyes. We do not realize it, but we often only use one eye to look at something. We tend to squint when trying to focus both eyes, but this strains your eyes. Hold one finger up at arms length. Now slowly bring closer to the tip of your nose, while trying to keep it in focus with both eyes as long as possible. DO NOT SQUINT! Repeat the exercise regularly, and your focus should improve in not too long.
There are also great e-books available that teaches you how to naturally better vision, and eventually throw away those glasses or lenses.
