Not Into Eyeglasses? 2 Supplementary Ways To Correct Your Eyesight

Eyeglasses can sometimes be annoying! This is especially if you break them almost every few months and they do come at a cost. Other disadvantages are that some are heavy, the material used could cause skin reactions and they fog up when temperatures change. Thanks to technology, eyeglasses have been replaced by modern innovations and procedures that have the same results, if not better. More people are adopting these new ways to replace their eyeglasses. Below are other options for you to improve your eyesight.

· Contact lenses

There are several benefits of contact lenses as opposed to eyeglasses. They are directly worn on your eye, leaving no space between the eye and the lens, which usually creates distortion. Another benefit is that they come in a variety of colors; green, blue, grey and those who like dramatic looks for specific occasions, you could try Dracula contacts, spider lenses or even Halloween color contacts!

However, you might need to change them after some time, as they wear out eventually. Who can wear them? For minors, they are not recommended because they can fall out when playing and they need to be cleaned every night. Otherwise, anyone else can wear them. Some people do not mind wearing them for aesthetic purposes; after all they are catchy and do not pose any health risks (unless you forget to remove them while swimming or even worse; sleep with them on).

· LASIK eye surgery

This is a procedure that uses laser underneath the corneal flap, to reshape the cornea (the transparent front covering the eye). It uses a specialized laser designed to improve vision, treat refractive errors and reduce the need for glasses or contact lenses. What are refractive errors? There are two parts primarily responsible for focusing incoming light rays into the surface of the retina: the lens and cornea. The power of the cornea and lens should be impeccably matched with the length of the eye and images in focus. Failure to this, the mismatch is called a refractive error which results to blurred images. The only flip side to this procedure is that not everyone can have it done. You have to go through a series of tests first and can only be done if the optician recommends it. More people are having LASIK eye surgery done since its effects are long-lasting and you can finally say goodbye to your eyeglasses for good!
