The wearing of sunglasses is a complex affair! Long gone are the days of simple protection from the sun’s harmful UV radiation, the rise of designer sunglasses and your choice of frames says as much about you as if people could still look into your eyes!
There was a time when having to choose a pair of eyeglasses, whether it was a basic pair of reading glasses or prescription glasses for constant use, was a necessary and practical affair with very little choice of styles or colours.
Similarly, having to purchase of a pair of sunglasses was easy, all sunglasses were black with large lenses and solid frames. A slight concession was made with the design of ladies glasses allowed for ‘flyaway’ wings and perhaps thinner frames.
The only other alternative was the clip on shades that would sit rather like twin double glazing panels on the bridge of your nose. This meant that if you wanted to change your sunglasses every season, there was no alternatives, no choosing something to suit you and definitely, no fun!
Today, all has changed! With so much on offer, especially if you buy glasses online, every nuance of colour, styling and detail betrays something of the personality you wish to project and your sense of taste!
Each time you try a pair of glasses on, you might want to take a little more notice of the little row of imitation diamond hearts, or the swaggering designer name capital letters emblazoned across the sides. You’ll definitely get noticed, but what does that say about you buying glasses to get noticed?
Do you want to tone it down with an unobtrusive, neat and elegant pair that may give the impression you are still at work in the office? Especially, if you’re on holiday, on the beach, in a restaurant, in a bar?
The thing is, when you go online and check the amazing range of designer name brands, boasting every style aimed at satisfying a chance to role play, it’s hard not to be impressed with the ingenious designs and colour combinations playfully woven around the basic frame shape.
In the end, it might not matter all that much what you choose because everyone else is faced with the same decisions! What really counts is selecting glasses that are suited to your face shape, that you feel comfortable to wear, as well as performing their primary eye-protection function.
Most important of all, remember what they might say about you if you wear them indoors!
