Glasses Patent Description
This invention relates to inorganic oxide glass compositions. Our copending British Patent Application No. 48105/71 discloses certain borophosphate glasses, that is, glasses having a network structure comprising a random mixture of boric and phosphoric oxides. The glass disclosed in that application also comprise minor proportions of the oxides of one or more alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, and/or zinc and have compositions within the following range (mole %)

Inorganic oxide glasses having compositions within the range (in moles percent) B.sub.2 O.sub.3 1.2-3.5, P.sub.2 O.sub.5 50-72, PbO 0-30, transition metal oxides 0-5, the remainder being oxides selected from alkali metal oxides, alkaline earths and zinc oxide.

Glasses Patent Abstract
Glass compositions are disclosed that are particularly useful in comminuted form as sources of micronutrient elements for soils. The glasses are based on phosphorus as P.sub.2 O.sub.5 and contain a nutrient amount of a micronutrient metal in oxide form, such as zinc, copper, manganese, molybdenum, or boron oxides or mixtures thereof, plus a solubility control agent. The control agent is a metal compound or mixture of metal compounds, usually potassium or sodium oxide or potassium or sodium chloride, and is present in the glass to provide a controlled release of the micronutrient metal, both as to amount and rate. I claim:
1. A batch for a heat absorbing glass exhibiting very good transmittance in the visible portion of the radiation spectrum and having a strain point higher than 560.degree.C. consisting essentially, by weight on the oxide basis, of about 0.5-3% FeO, 0.5-3% R.sub.2 O, wherein R.sub.2 O consists of Li.sub.2 O, Na.sub.2 O, and/or K.sub.2 O, 12-16% Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, 10-30% SiO.sub.2, and 50-65% P.sub.2 O.sub.5, wherein NH.sub.4 H.sub.2 PO.sub.4 is utilized as a batch ingredient in an amount sufficient to provide about 1-9% P.sub.2 O.sub.5.
