Nonlinearity of the Enthalpic Response Function to a Temperature Jump and Its Interpretation Based on Fragility in Liquid Glasses

The irreversible enthalpy-relaxation processes of a liquid were tracked by the temperature jump method, and simulated based on a double-well potential model. The processes were found to show remarkable nonexponentialities and a nonlinearity to the temperature jump. The nonlinearity (δ ) was interpreted to originate primarily from the fragility (m ), namely the non-Arrhenius property of the relaxation times.
